Watercolor Sketch - MariaAmanda by Wreckluse Watercolor Sketch - MariaAmanda by Wreckluse
First of all, thanks to :iconmariaamanda: and Photographer: Lars Sivertsen for providing such a wonderful reference!

This is a watercolor painting, but I wasn't too happy with the colors so I boosted them a bit in photoshop.

Here is the original painting with no photoshop : [link]

hmm...you mean you actually use cotton as the brush? That is interesting. I used salt on the paint at the bottom. It made a pretty cool effect. The practice page I did before this one actually looked a bit better...but it is cool how the salt reacts with the paint.

DUDE!!! You know...your digital work is awesome. But, I think you've found a whole new niche:nod: You are quite talented with watercolors. I am just so jealous cause this is what I'd like for mine to look like! You definitely need to continue with the watercolors. How do you keep from panicking when the color starts to run??? That's when I start to get uptight and unfortunately, I think that's what watercolors are all about. So impressed!!! And I love the colors...on BOTH of them

aww, thanks so much!

I'm really glad you like them! Honestly, I don't really think of these as "paintings". They are sketches to me, and I guess I don't panic or get overly concerned because I can always just throw it away and do another one :) Plus I dont really spend enough time on them to get emotionally attatched. An hour or 2 at the most.

Also, if you make a mistake you can always just add some water and soak it up with a paper towel if you are fast enough :) And if you aren't...you can always go back over it with acrylics after and fix it. Thats one thing that I have learned over the years, is that any mistake can be fixed (even if that means painting over it/repainting it). NO FEAR!

Thanks again for the compliment! My previous offer still stands!

You are inspiring me to loosen up with watercolors . I think I'll try this weekend to set a timer on myself and just relax with them...not take more than a few hours. We'll see what happens :giggle:

And the compliment is well deserved!! I saw another deviant on here that, like you, had just started with watercolors and, like you, they were amazing. I think you have a real aptitude for them.

I actually would love to have you do a portrait. I've never had one done of me before:blushes: I'll have to find a decent picture. That is too sweet :D
